IVF

we're finally at ivf. we're starting as soon as i get my period, the first time in a long time that i've been hoping to get my period sooner than later. believe me, i'd be thrilled if we got a positive from trying on our own this month, but since i tested this morning and got a negative, i'm ready to go with ivf.

DH and I are totally on board and this is finally seeming real. major thoughts include:

1. i may actually get pregnant next month!*
* i know, i know, there are many steps in between, but since our chances of getting pregnant are so low without ivf (.05% on our own / 10% iui / 60% ivf) this actually seems like it could happen!

2. holy shit, this is expensive. we're doing the attain ivf and its coming in around 25k. yikes. and thats before medication. but, we feel good knowing that if all the cycles fail (there are 3 fresh, 3 frozen) we will get 70% of our money back. so worst case is that we'll be babyless but not broke.

there seems to be a lot to get done in planning around ivf, which is good for me, since i am a total pencil-it-in calendar and to-do list person. right now the list includes:

1. ivf meds - where to buy cheapest?
2. attain paperwork
3. accupuncture appointments
4. genetic testing

  1. Exciting! I am sorry about the bfn, but I hope your first IVF will be your magic ticket! That's awesome that you'll get to start so soon. Good luck!
