day 5 stims

so, good news, i think? my ultrasound went well this morning, i saw lots of black ovals in my ovaries. it turned out have have 9 follicles on the right and 8 on the left, with the largest at 11 mm. uterine lining was 8.6 mm, and i forgot to ask if this is good or not. and i can't believe it is going to happen so soon, but basically it sounds like they might do my retrieval as early as friday!! they have reduced my follistim dose once already (from 150 to 125) and they have decided not to increase my menopur as was previously planned. i'm starting my antagonist, ganirelex tomorrow night. next ultrasound on thursday.

i'm hoping that this is all good. i have a couple worries, like:
- i will ovulate before i start my antagonist tomorrow night
- my lining won't be good enough
- i might get OHSS

i'm off to do my injections!

  2. Sounds like your lining is already good enough; both my REs wanted 7 mm or greater, and you're there.

17 growing follicles--great! If the largest of them are at 11 mm, you probably won't ovulate before tomorrow night. And I'm sure your RE is monitoring you for possible OHSS.

    Good luck!

  3. My RE wanted 8mm so your lining is perfect.

I would think that your RE is also carefully monitoring your blood test results and you have time to take the antagonist before you ovulate. By the way don't be concerned if you have lots of cm as it is caused by the hormones all your follicles are producing.

In order to avoid OHSS you should start limiting your water intake and adding more salty items. I had 25 follicles, and my RE told me to start drinking at least one can of V8 and add more salty foods. I only managed to get very mild case of OHSS after retrieval but with tons of salty foods, V8, gatorade and limited water consumption, it went away in a few days (well before my 5 day transfer).

    Good luck!!!!
